Deutsch: "Das Brustbild zeigt die Landgräfin Ulrike Louise von Hessen-Homburg (1731-1792), geb. Prinzessin von Solms-Braunfels, und Gemahlin Friedrichs IV. von Hessen-Homburg, im Dreiviertelprofil, nahezu en face, vor dunkelblauem Hintergrund mit ovalem Bildausschnitt. Sie trägt ein weißes Kleid mit Rüschen und streifenförmigem braunem Pelzbesatz über den Schultern, über der Brust und am Hals je eine hellblaue Seidenschleife. Sie trägt eine Perlenkette und -ohrringe. Das zurückgekämmte graue Haar ist mit einer weiteren Perlenkette und einem gebundenen Spitzentuch versehen.
Als Friedrich IV. bereits fünf Jahre nach der Eheschließung 1751 verstarb, war Ulrike Luise die einzige Repräsentantin des Hauses Hessen-Homburg, da ihr Sohn Friedrich noch minderjährig war. Mit der Unterstützung von Kaiser Franz I. gelang es der selbst erst 19jährigen Regentin, ihre politischen Interessen gegenüber dem Haus Hessen-Darmstadt in der Person Ludwigs VIII. durchzusetzen, musste jedoch die Mitvormundschaft Ludwigs VIII. für den Sohn akzeptieren. Dies führte über die Jahre zu dauerhaften schwelenden Konflikten, die erst mit der Übertragung der Regentschaft an Friedrich V. 1766 beendet wurden - vorzeitig, da Ulrike Louise hierfür wiederum geschickt agierend den Kaiser um die vorzeitige Volljährigkeitserklärung ihres Sohnes bat. Die starke Frau, geschickte Politikerin und Landgräfin Ulrike Louise zog sich jedoch keineswegs zurück, sondern blieb im Hintergrund als Beraterin ihres Sohnes in die Landespolitik involviert." [1] |
