After having designed and built a Quadricyle for Prinetti & Stucci (1899) and a race car prototype (1900, young Ettore Bugatti was hired by De Dietrich to develop a line of cars for that company. Officially offered as De Dietrich Licence Bugatti, they were available as 16 HP, 24 HP or 60 HP race car. These cars are referred to also as "De Dietrich-Bugattis". Less than 100 were built between 1902-1904; only two being 60 HP.
Bugatti cars appeared in 1909 with the Type 10 (a prototype) and Type 13 voiturette. Ettore counted the models built for De Dietrich as

  • Bugatti Type 3 (16 HP)
  • Bugatti Type 4 (24 HP)
  • Bugatti Type 5 (60 HP)

These is his own typology, not an official De Dietrich.--Chief tin cloud (talk) 15:56, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
