Inaccurate map[edit]

This map seems to claim there are moose in the Oregon High Desert, Vancouver Island, the Olympic Peninsula, and other dubious places, but not in Yellowstone and the Tetons. I almost walked into a moose in the Tetons. And there definitely aren't any on the Olympic Peninsula. It also shows moose distribution in the Buffalo and Niagara Falls area, which I can assure you is plain wrong. Further, no source references are provided, making it impossible to verify the map's accuracy. Pfly (talk) 12:17, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There definitely aren't moose within the GTA either... Epigrammed (talk) 06:14, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree having just read an article on Chernobyl where moose also known as Eurasian Elk are thriving and that is South in the Ukraine

I believe they hide well in the Tetons but you fall over them in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado and in Grand Lake, Colorado where I have seen 4 bulls and 3 females with calves. ( Bsiearo)

Newfoundland, Canada, defined by the moose, is also not even included on the map. It probably has the most moose per km2 in the world.....what's up with this map? I know this for fact because I am from Newfoundland and moose would regularly be found in my backyard. Although moose were not native to Newfoundland, they have thrived since being introduced to the island.

There are definitely moose in Newfoundland. Epigrammed (talk) 06:14, 6 September 2012 (UTC) Oct 2012 There are also Moose in the upper peninsula of Michigan, north of Make Michigan and south of Lake Superior.[reply]

Inaccurate map Europe[edit]

In Europe we have Elks (Moose?) in Poland, Some Parts of Germany, Austria, Tchechia, Slowakia...all that the map didnt show. The map is crap, anybody has a real map?

Inaccurate Russia[edit]

There ARE moose in Kamchatka peninsula! And also looks like in European Russia moose living area should go further to the south. Where this map comes from?

Alaska, etc[edit]

This has just been removed from the en.Wikipedia article for being inaccurate. I completely agree with that removal as a person with even a passing knowledge of moose habitat can easily spot numerous flaws. In Alaska it shows moose in the mountainous southeast coastal region around Juneau and on the Aleutian Islands, both areas with no moose. As noted above there most certainly are moose on the Kamchatka peninsula as well, in fact they are legendary for enormous specimens that are found there. Hoping someone with knowledge of how to make one of these maps can make a new one that is more accurate. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:36, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Russia[edit]

Уточните местообитание: в России он живёт до Ростовской области. Это подтверждено в письменных источниках и свидетелями, которых я знаю.

Refine habitat: in Russia it lives up to the Rostov region. This is confirmed in written sources and witnesses, which I know.

(machine translation of the above) North America [edit] No elk in North America. This can be confirmed by opening the map of the area on the site IUCN. Please correct the map .-- Olya Duremarovna (talk) 15:36, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

I don't know what the IUCN is, but obviously that is incorrect. This map is wring in many aspects and as such probably shouldn't be used at all, but there are most certainly moose in North America. Beeblebrox (talk) 15:48, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Europe[edit]

I have to agree all the other commenters that this map is largely incorrect. Moose is present in most eastern European countries, a big population in Poland, Czech Rep. an some even in Germany. I don't undestand why this completely outdated map is still used in so mamy WPs.
