Misidentification[edit]

When I uploaded this image, I based the filename on the plant identification label I found in front of it at the Washington DC Botanical Garden. This was probably a mistake; I have since been informed that rather than w:Musa textilis, this is almost certainly w:Musa balbisiana. Unfortunately, this image has been widely used under the incorrect identification. I will be looking into how to scrub this misidentification from Wikipedia. So far, my plan is: 1) Request a rename to use "Musa balbisiana"; 2) don't create a redirect page, since it's a misidentification; 3) remove the image from all pages it is used on, except where it is being used as a more generic illustration for Musa or the flower structure; 4) (optional) do a reverse image search of the web and notify website administrators at least on larger or more authoritative-looking sites. I suppose I should also take a look through my other images uploaded with a species name and see about getting an ID review. D-: -- Phyzome (talk) 14:09, 24 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
