I think the LOC's date range for this image can be narrowed: en:George Ripley only began working at the Tribune in 1849, so the image can't date from before then. -- Rbellin 06:07, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What makes you think that the back row names should be reversed? The one on the left doesn't look anything like Henry J. Raymond to me and he seems to be clearly the one on the right. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.7.30.230 (talk • contribs)

I've updated the description. I think the IP who changed it to say the back row was reversed [1] was going by the identification in Pfister's "Facing the Light". Looking at other photos of Raymond and Fry, I agree with you that the man on the right looks more like Raymond. The one on the right doesn't look definitively like either of them, to my eye; I think the LoC decided that that was Fry mostly by process of elimination (per their notes) - perhaps Brady's list of who was in the photo is wrong. --dave pape (talk) 17:12, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
