Dancer's shadow

[edit]

To me, the dancer's shadow seems to indicate a counter-clockwise directionality. Can I check for consensus on this view and/or request that someone with appropriate skills remove the shadow from the image? 71.252.253.19 04:52, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The shadow works both ways. Please see the other versions, and note that the shadow on both is identical. I struggle with this image as well, always seeing it going clockwise at first. If you cover up everything above the foot until you can see the foot turning in the direction you have difficulty with, then slowly uncover the rest of the picture, you may have better luck. --Storkk (talk) 20:41, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's a reflection and not a shadow. --Blueiculous (talk) 21:51, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Asymmetric lighting

[edit]

There is a lighter area in the upper left and a darker area in upper right. I'm not sure of the best way to take the frames, flip them left <-> right, and re-animate them but I'm sure doing so would change the direction most people view it. Even with the 13th cell pro-right spinning (anti/counter-clockwise) white line discrepancy, I have to work really hard to see it as right-spinning. The lighting always resets my view even when I'm looking at the right-spinning image. I'd like to hear from other people on each of these topics but especially people who have trouble seeing it as left-spinning (clockwise) or who know how to un-animate it, re-align the lighting, fix the discrepancy, and re-animate it. :)--Thecurran (talk) 01:39, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

sorry - doesn't the left one turn left? (I think "L" and "R" are wrong) greetz from germany — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.199.247.103 (talk • contribs)

The "L" and "R" mark the dancer's legs, not the direction they're turning. Both images are the same and can be seen as turning in either direction, if you disregard the leg labels. Kafziel (talk) 18:17, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
