Tall Zira'a

• Deutsch: Der Tall Zira'a (arabisch für „Hügel der Landwirtschaft“) ist eine bedeutende historische Siedlungsstätte im Norden des heutigen Jordanien am Dreiländereck zu Syrien und Israel. Seit über 5000 Jahren war der Hügel immer wieder besiedelt, dabei haben sich Kulturschichten von zehn bis zwölf Metern Höhe aufgebaut. Im Rahmen des Gadara Region Project wird die Geschichte des Tall und der Region seit 2001 archäologisch erforscht.

• English: The Tall Zira'a (or: Tell Zera'a) is one of the most promising talls of Palestine. Surveys and geophysical investigations showed the site’s great potential for excavations. Presumably, an almost continuous stratigraphy from Early Bronze Age to the Islamic periods will demonstrate the history of northeast Jordan.
