This template is used in the |source= parameter of the {{Information}} template to render the words "own work based on:" in the language specified in the user's preferences. Note that the work(s) specified must already exist on Commons— this template cannot be used to specify a work located elsewhere or to provide a citation to such a work.

Any namespace declaration (e.g. File:, Image:) is ignored. Only items from the FILE namespace on Commons can be used.
Parameters starting with "[" or "{" are used as-they-are; this allows to specify also files outside of Commons.

Template parameters

When the file name of the first file is the same it will be enough just to specify the file type by e.g.

  • .png (or short: .p or shorter: .)
  • .jpg (or short: .j)
  • .gif (or short: .g)
  • .svg (or short: .s)

Example: {{ Own based.j }}. This option will work only for the first file!
