Characteristics

The drawB2 tincture palette, commonly referred to as the ‘Bernina palette’, is a set of heraldic colours (known as tinctures in heraldry) previously used for coats of arms of the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The palette provides a set of codes that will display the tinctures of any given coat of arms in the item's file description, rendering them as a sequence of coloured boxes as defined in the tincture field of the COAInformation template.

Provenance

The Bernina palette has been compiled from the tinctures used in the complete set of of Graubünden's public heraldry as created and uploaded to Wikipedia in SVG format by Bernina in the year 2006.

Recommended Usage

As the Canton of Graubünden released an official armorial of its public heraldry in 2021, the Bernina palette is now considered obsolete. It is recommended that this palette be no longer used for new work.

New coats of arms and flags pertaining to the canton of Graubünden, including historical arms not included in the official armorial (e.g. CHE Uors COA.svg), should now be tinctured using the GR palette, which is based on the official tinctures.
