WikiMiniAtlas - the interactive world map for Wikipedia[edit]
Introduction[edit]
- Many articles contain geographical coordinates...
- ...usually to be found in the top right corner
- Clicking the blue globe button opens the WMA
- The subject of the article is highlighted using WIWOSM or embedded KML data
- A 3d globe shows the rough location for orientation
- The map is draggable
- Labels on the map instantly appear (no need to stop the dragging)
- We can zoom in
- Let's turn off the highlight overlay!
- The base map uses OpenStreetMap data
- Zooming out only the most relevant labels are shown
- Note the globe rotating to follow the dragged map
