1965 Castrol Drive Australian National Driving Competition Announcement by The Hon Gordon Freeth of a National Safe Driver Competition to be held in 1965 and sponsored by Castrol Limited. [[1]] 1500 entrants across the seven States of Australia entered the Competition with the first three places from each State competing in the National Final. Winning team was from NSW driving an Austin Healey Sprite and comprised Driver Christopher John Hall of Cardiff (Newcastle) NSW and Navigator John Collins of Newcastle NSW. The drivers prize was a three month voyage through Asia aboard the Austasia Line M.V.Malaysia as the guest of Castrol in each Port of call.
