LINDA FISHER

Background
Ending a long profession as a composer/musician in the mid-90s, I took a staff position as web designer at Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Websites were very new at that time and the Cornell Library system was first entity to insist that the university establish internet and web access to the academic community. I created websites within the ILR school, notably the Triangle Factory Fire, for the ILR Catherwood Library. I also worked with other university entities such as the Gannett Student Health Center and Career Services to establish informational websites for their students.

Separately, during this time I also contributed to the design and interactive features for the website Gratefulness.Org'. Guided by the Benedictine monk Br. David Steindl-Rast, the work originated in the Ithaca, NY/Cornell area but its scope was international. Over the years, I've studied at both Cornell and NYU.

Current Projects
In 2005, as a practicing Buddhist, I moved to Virginia where I serve as webmaster for a consortium of five websites under the international Tibetan Buddhist organization Mindrolling International, led by Her Eminence Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche.

In 2008, I also began an extensive task of both web design and project management for artist Norman Daly's 1972 ground-breaking multimedia installation in the genre of archaeological fiction, The Civilization of Llhuros. The result of bringing this massive work back to Europe after a long hiatus resulted in exhibitions in Montpellier, France and at the Istanbul Biennial 2019 curated by Nicolas Bourriaud.

Philosophy
All my creative efforts are infused by a deeply-rooted spirituality, inspiring my projects and the arc of evolution each takes. The user interface/experience is a key focus of my work.
