History
[edit]The origin of the name 'hologei' is unknown. Originally, the name was written as 'holoGEI', suggesting that the 'GEI' was originally an acronym. Because username fields generally do not support the use of punctuation or special characters, it is likely that the periods between the capitalized letters G, E, and I were dropped. If letters G, E, and I were part of an acronym, it further suggests use of the term 'holo' in the beginning of the name derives from 'holographic', alike many other similar names such as 'holodeck' from Star Trek, or 'HoloLens' by Microsoft.
The capitalization of the name was later dropped, and has since been written out as 'hologei' in both writing and in the hologei logo. The name has always been written starting with a lower case 'h'.
Logo
[edit]The hologei logo has changed several times throughout it's history, however has maintained several unique features such as the use of a monochromatic color scheme, and three horizontal lines preceding the text. The current logo consists of a custom designed typeface not associated or directly based on any known font.
