Owen Patrick Rust (born February 11, 1985) is a substitute teacher in Lubbock, Texas, working for Lubbock ISD and Lubbock-Cooper ISD. He is also currently a Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification student at Texas Tech University, where he also completed a year of graduate coursework in Sociology and worked as a Teaching Assistant.

Owen was previously a graduate student at the University of Wyoming, where he received a Master's degree in Public Administration and was a graduate assistant. He also received Bachelor's degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science from the same University in May 2007.

An Eagle Scout, Owen worked for eight seasons at Philmont Scout Ranch, beginning as a backpacking guide and eventually working as Service Academy Coordinator for three seasons and Scheduling Coordinator for his final season.
