Most of the thousands of plant and garden photos I've uploaded were taken at botanical gardens. My usual approach is to take a few photos of the plant, and then, if a plant label exists, to photograph that, in order to identify the preceding plant photos later.
Once the plant photos are identified, if the plant label photo no longer serves a purpose (such as showing the trunk of a tree, or something else useful) it can be deleted.
If the EXIF data from the photo has a time/date on it, and the year is 1999, then the time/date is wrong. I got the camera in 2000, and it was pretty new, but the factory preset date/time was some day in 1999, and it would reset to that date whenever the batteries ran out, until I noticed/reprogrammed the date. So if you ever see a time/date from 1999, please remove that, it is incorrect.
Sadly, I used the lowest resolution mode for photographing with my first digital camera for too long, because back then memory on memory cards and hard drives was scarce and expensive, and I thought since many of the photos were to be uploaded to my website anyway, I didn't want my website to be overly slow to load. Ah, how times have changed.
I have tens of thousands more photos taken in Armenia which I plan to upload over time, but uploading is a tedious and slow process, partly due to the presorting a prep, partly due to the clunky uploading mechanisms of Commons.
