I am a lover of wildlife and wild places. I have been a volunteer naturalist since 2004 and a citizen scientist for nearly that long. I lead classes of students from 3rd grade through graduate school on educational explorations of the intertidal reef at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. I also participate in scientific research and fieldwork conducted by the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. One project involves studying biodiversity a Pillar Point, CA, and changes over time. I occasionally publish articles in the Friends of Fitzgerald Marine Reserve Newsletter and on Wikipedia. My Wikipedia article on the kelp scallop (Leptopecten latiauratus) has been the #1 ranked article on Google for many years.
