Zgjim Terziqi is a writer/director born in 1990 in Mitrovica; when he was 8 years old, he and his family had to flee Kosovo, because their house was burned down during the war. After the war, they didn't have where to go. His mother and father - a plastic surgeon and an electrical engineer - would work day and night to raise the necessary funds for a new home, which they eventually did.
Holding a BA and MA from the University of Pristina in Film and TV directing, Zgjim is also a prolific screenwriter. Having written over 250 episodes for TV and tens of short films, he also works as a script consultant.
His shorts A Month (2017) and Salon (2019), traveled to over 100 film festivals including 39th Cairo IFF, 42nd Atlanta FF, 35th Torino FF, 35th Rhode Island IFF, Brussels SFF, 35th and 37th Busan ISFF, 15th and 17th New Directors / New Films, TIFF, Hollyshorts, Dokufest etc. He won 10 awards at festivals around the world. Zgjim recently was the collaborating writer of the short Displaced (2021) directed by Samir Karahoda, which competed for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and is also the European Film Awards nominee of the festival.
Currently he is working on his first feature film in development "2000: A Post-War Odyssey"; which was selected for the Berlinale Script Station 2020, Torino Film Lab 2020, Valletta Film Lab 2019, won the Budapest Debut Film Forum 2020, won the post-production award worth 10k and the Prishtina International Film Festival in 2021 and also received development and production funding from the Kosovo Cinematography Center.
He is and alumni of Berlinale Talents 2020, Sarajevo Talents 2016, Go East War Documentary Lab 2015, Go Short Talents Campus 2019, Kyoto Filmmaker’s Lab 2018 and Reykjavik Talent Lab 2017.
Zgjim is fluent in Albanian, English, German, and decent in French, Serbian and Turkish.
