Recompression

[edit]

Hi! Please don't recompress the file uploaded from Flickr because the bot has a problem to confirm it license... Regards Electron <Talk?> 01:43, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for the advice. Unfortunately, I do not recall recompressing one of the files I uploaded from Flickr. Could you please point me to the image where I did something wrong, so I can avoid any future mistakes? Thanks in advance! --C.Reinboth (talk) 10:49, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know why some PC systems try to be more wise than their users and make recompresion themselves (I observed it in e.g Windows XP with Servis Pack 3). To evoid it when I uploading photos from Flickr I found such way -> go to "ALL SIZE" page, take the best resolution and after that don't save the file stright but you should take "Download the Large size" button and save the file. Usually it works properly... Sometimes if the saved photo file has an unusual small size it can be a good idea to repeat the process. As I said Windows is a very strange system and I didn't solve the problem completelly yet... Regards Electron <Talk?> 12:51, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Seems that WinXP is the culprit then. Thanks for the kind advice! --C.Reinboth (talk) 14:06, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It seems it is but only with SP3. I used some computers with SP1 & SP2 and there were no problem... It seems that SP3 make some changes in the system of photo file saving. I don't know how is in Vista or Win7 because I haven't tried their yet... Regards :) Electron <Talk?> 14:29, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
