Location:: Jammu & Kashmir

Pethmakhama is a Village situated at 2.5km distance from Magam town of Budgam District.


It is a very vast about 3 sq km and neighbours the villages Rathsun, Hanjibugh, Bonmakhama, Aaripanthan, Badran and Paripora.

It is situated on the bank of the River Sukhnag and hosts the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) at the shrine of Shahi Hamdan (RA).

During some special days a mela is celebrated and the Holy Beard hair of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is disclosed to the devotees every year.

Pethmakhama is an agricultural village and the people earn their livelihood from the needle based business (shawl bafi).

Besides there are well educated youth and Govt employees as well as private ones.

There is a big but unmanned sports gound which has often been used by the youth for the games like cricket, football and volleyball.

Pethmakhama has got a High Shcool for Boys and a middle school for the girls besides some primary as well as some private institutions.

The road leading to Pethmakhama from Magam is a metalled one though deserting day by day.

It has got a general service of transport direct from Batmaloo and magam stands. Besides the LMVs like Sumos and Autorickshaws also keep ferrying the people all the day.

Apart from this the horsedriven carts (tongaz) are also a means of transport for the people.

Pethmakhama is throughout the year irrigated by fluent flowing waters of river sukhnag.

The land on the banks of this river which is a tributary of river Jehlum has been devastated and barrened by major floods in the past.

But Pethmakhama is still an economical village neither lagging behind to other villages of District Budgam nor too forward to the most
