Restricting to active Wikipedias?

[edit]

I am currently only checking Wikipedias for usage of images. But which Wikipedias should be polled? There are two possibilities:

  • all ~200 Wikipedias
  • just ~95 active ones (more than 100 articles)

Obviously, there is a factor of two in speed (for the bot) between these possiblities. — Richie 20:00, 18 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Automation

[edit]

I would like to make this as automated as possible, i.e. I check whether the images are equal/similar and run the bot. When the bot finishes, I don't want to do the cleaning up work of checking the bot's work and deleting the surplus image. Would this be OK? — Richie 20:00, 18 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If bot didn't return any error/warnings, automation'll be OK. From other side good idea to keep eye on bot job. Remember Murphy's law... :-) --EugeneZelenko 02:09, 19 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, of course. What I meant to say is that the person adding a renaming request needs to merge the information given on the two image description pages onto the description page of the "new image" beforehand. I'll run the bot, check its edits and afterwards delete the "old image" without touching the new one. — Richie 12:56, 19 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Syntax example?

[edit]

The page says "just make sure to obey the syntax". What is the syntax? I've checked the history to figure it out, but an example would be helpful for others. Dbenbenn 01:56, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Browsing the history to figure out the syntax shouldn't be too hard in my opinion. I'll add a short description though. — Richie 08:29, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
