| Description |
English: Outline schematic of the MGU-H system of a 2014-season Formula One engine. The air flows from left to right: first in the compressor of the turbo, then through the intercooler, then into the six-cylinder engine (center). After the exhaust from the core engine, it is expanded in the turbine of the turbo.
The axle of the turbo is connected to an electrical motor/generator. In the high-power phases, the power of the turbine exceeds that of the turbo, and power can be extracted by the generator to be stored in batteries or transfered to the wheels. In the low-power phases, the power of the turbine is inferior to that of the compressor, and the motor is used to spool up the turbo axle. |
