Category:Buildings in Singapore

Please place here images and subcategories of whole buildings, and images of substantial portions of buildings. As far as possible, use an appropriate subcategory of "Buildings in Singapore" rather than the main category itself. When creating a subcategory named after a building:
  • DEFAULTSORT. If the building name begins with The, add a {{DEFAULTSORT}} tag to the subcategory omitting the word in the sort key. For example, if the building is called "The Atrium@Orchard", the tag should be: "{{DEFAULTSORT:Atrium@Orchard}}".
  • Location. If the location of the building is known, add either the name of the road or street that the building is on (see "Category:Roads in Singapore" or "Category:Streets in Singapore") or a subcategory of "Category:Places in Singapore" to denote its location. (It is not necessary to give both, as the road or street should already be a subcategory of the place. To find out a building's address, visit OneMap.)
  • Year of completion. If the year of completion of the building is known, add a subcategory of "Category:Buildings in Singapore by year of completion".
  • Skyscrapers. If the building is a skyscraper and its height is known, add a subcategory of "Category:Skyscrapers in Singapore by height".
  • Interwikis. If there are one or more articles about the building on other projects, add the subcategory to an appropriate entry on Wikidata.

  • If images clearly show architectural features of buildings, such as arches, bridges, doors, roofs, walls and windows, in addition to placing them in one of the subcategories of "Category:Buildings in Singapore", also put them in an appropriate subcategory of "Category:Architectural elements in Singapore".
  • Place images and subcategories of constituencies, neighbourhoods or regions of Singapore in an appropriate subcategory of "Category:Places in Singapore".

Reproduction of the subject(s) of the photographs or other types of file in this category is permitted under Singapore law (sections 63 and 64 of the Copyright Act (Cap. 63, 2006 Rev. Ed.)), which states that:
  • the copyright in a sculpture or work of artistic craftsmanship that is situated, otherwise than temporarily, in a public place, or in premises open to the public, is not infringed by the making of a painting, drawing, engraving or photograph of the work or by the inclusion of the work in a cinematograph film or in a television broadcast; and
  • the copyright in a building or a model of a building is not infringed by the making of a painting, drawing, engraving or photograph of the building or model or by the inclusion of the building or model in a cinematograph film or in a television broadcast.

According to section 63(1) read with the definition of artistic work in section 7 of the Act, a work of artistic craftsmanship does not include a painting, drawing, engraving or photograph. Therefore, freedom of panorama in Singapore does not apply to, among other things, two-dimensional works such as billboards, murals, paintings in art galleries and museums, posters and signs.
