English: The Obelisk of Theodosius was brought in from Egypt by Emperor Theodosius I in 390 to adorn the Hippodrome of Constantinople. Carved from granite, it originally stood at the Temple of Karnak during the reign of Tuthmosis III in about 1490 BCE.
