  •  Neutral It is a good picture, but if the scope is the opening position, then every single piece should be visible. There are several pictures of lower quality that show the opening position better. --Eusebius (talk) 15:39, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it accurately shows the opening position as seen by the black player. It does not purport to show all of the pieces one by one. I have taken a series of separate images to do that. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 14:50, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Support I see the point raised by Eusebius concerning how well each piece is seen, and I wondered, as I reviewed it, if it would have been better at illustrating the scope, if there had been a slight side angle such that especially the black officers did not hide so much of the black pawns. Yes there are other photos, which perhaps does this aspect better, but they have other problems such as unfortunate lightning, distracting elements, ugly backgrounds, etc. What I like about this photo is the very clean composition, the black background, the carefully selected lightning and alignment of each individual piece. It gives for me a very clean illustration of the scope. Thus, it gains my support. -- Slaunger (talk) 06:13, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
