Summary[edit]
Description3rd Cavalry Regiment troops learn performance enhancement skills 131210-A-ZU930-016.jpg |
English: Soldiers with 1st Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment make their way through an obstacle course designed by master resilience trainers with the Fort Hood Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness Program, Dec. 10, 2013. The course consisted of a field full of metal shipping containers representing a village, with trip wires and objects that could be improvised explosive devices scattered around the area - such as the pile of rocks seen here in the foreground. In addition, photographs of faces were taped up inside and outside several of the conexes. Upon returning to the starting point, Soldiers were asked to write the number of the conex next to the faces printed on cards, and then chart the places they noticed possible improvised explosive devices on a map. The training is part of the Army's Ready and Resilient Campaign Plan, and was patterned from the training given to professional athletes by sports psychologists. It is designed to improve soldiers' focus under mental stress. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Ken Scar, 7th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment) |
