Title
Barlows' Knoll after first day's battle, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, northwest of town. July 1, 1863., ca. 1960 - ca. 1997
Description
  • General notes: Inaccurately-titled/dated image of Battle of Gettysburg artillery lunettes on en:Stevens Knoll with unattended postbellum cannon placed during the Gettysburg Battlefield commemorative era near Slocum Avenue (center), which turns westward to the Baltimore Pike (background). Cemetery Hill (background) has faint image of the en:Evergreen Cemetery gatehouse along the Pike with the gatehouse archway depicted darker than the roofline and towers. Slocum Av was "built" (telfordized) in 1896-97 and runs through a stone wall (center), which both--along with the gatehouse--remain on the battlefield. The site of the 1902 General Slocum equestrian monument is off-image to left.
