DescriptionEmbassy team visits key archaeological sites DVIDS341709.jpg |
English: Dr. Laura Tedesco, U.S. Embassy Kabul's archaeologist, speaks to David Ensor, U.S. Embassy Kabul Communications and Public Diplomacy director, and Jim Moore, Department of State’s South and Central Asia bureau deputy assistant secretary for press and public Diplomacy, about the history of the Tepe Sadar ruins, a unique monument of sacred architecture right outside Ghazni City, Nov. 17. The circa fifth- to eighth-century complex boasts ruins of a Buddhist stupa, monastery and shrines along with a Hindu chapel. The visit was to help aid U.S. Embassy Public Affairs and Moore decide how to best assist Ghazni province as it strives to identify and restore particularly relevant Islamic archaeological sites that have earned Ghazni its 2013 designation.
