Description

English: U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Casey Hanchette (foreground), a rescue swimmer from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., and Petty Officer 1st Class Kelly Mccarthy, also a rescue swimmer from Elizabeth City, sit and brace for take-off in a HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter as they begin the overflight assessments of southwest Louisiana and southwest Texas following the landfall of Hurricane Ike Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008.

Each HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter deployed for Hurricane Ike response carried one additional rescue swimmer during the overflight missions.
