Description
English: A disabled, rescued bald eagle reaches, talons outstretched, for a perch at the Yukla 27 Memorial Park on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Monday, Dec. 8, 2014. On Elmendorf Air Force Base, Sept. 22, 1995, a Boeing E-3B Sentry, Airborne Warning and Control System, aircraft from the 962nd Airborne Air Control Squadron encountered a flock of geese and crashed shortly after takeoff on a routine surveillance training sortie, killing all 24 U.S. and Canadian Airmen aboard. The Yukla 27 Memorial Park, located near the 3rd Wing Headquarters building on JBER-Elmendorf, is dedicated to the memory of the Airmen who lost their lives that morning. Two rescued bald eagles make their home at the park and can be viewed by visitors. (U.S. Air Force photo/Justin Connaher)
