Description
English: An M1A2SEP Abrams Tank from Company C, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, "Desert Rogues," 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, sits ready while others complete the night portion of the Gunnery Table VI in the background here at Red Cloud Range, Dec. 12. Table VI is a culminating event, which results in the certification of crews who've proven they are combat ready and proficient at the operation and maneuvering of their tank and its weapon systems. The Cyclone Company, has been out in the field for the last month conducting Tables II-V in preparation for Table VI. The Cyclones were the last tank company within the 2nd ABCT that still needed to complete the gunnery. With the Army's recent publicized intent to decrease the size of the force, it is well known that the 2nd ABCT is slated to be deactivated. This in turn means that this may very well be one of the last times a tank designated to the 2nd ABCT is fired. This image is the result of combining many single frames into one image, allowing the viewer to see the motion of the earth on its axis translated in the linear representation of the stars.
