Description
English: Soldiers from the 555th Engineer Brigade board a CH-47 Chinook helicopter for helocast training at American Lake Oct. 9, 2014. A helocast involves inserting troops from the air via water. It is one of the skills taught and tested upon during the Sapper Leader Course. Similar in many ways to Ranger School, the course, which is primarily for combat engineers, is physically and mentally demanding. There is a high attrition rate for attendees, which is why the brigade began their own pre-training course prior to sending Soldiers to the main course.
