Copyright of Philipp Kester works[edit]
The institution has uploaded several photos from Philipp Kester(1873-1958) (e.g. File:Philipp Kester, Helene Raff.jpg) under CC-BY-SA. However, his works are still protected under German copyright law (life + 70 years) and only the owner of the copyright can decide the licensing terms. My doubt: is the Munich state the owner of Kester's copyright? or is the scan of the original work what has the CC-BY-SA license? Thanks. Günther Frager (talk) 11:28, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Günther Frager, thanks for your attentive comment. The Münchner Stadtmuseum exercises the copyright of Philipp Kester. With one of the earlier uploaded images by Kester, our credentials and copyright use was checked and approved by Wikimedia-VRTS. You can look at the VRTS-ticket [1] or check the file page with the approval note [2]. And you can visit the official online collection of Münchner Stadtmuseum, where we publish these images ourselves with the designated license: Philipp Kester in der Sammlung Online des Münchner Stadtmuseums.
