VI

VI goes wrong. The SET is blocked and I think that we should abandon this part of the project because it is effectivemetn heavy to manage. But it also seems that the main part no longer works, which is a shame because we began to see the arrival of new competitors. How to do? --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 06:42, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Dear Archaeodontosaurus, Regarding the VICs, we should contact the bot maintainer. I have done that just now. Regarding the sets I tend to agree with you that this part of the project should be discontinued or put on hold for the time being. I do not think they have ever really worked and it is also a little hard to see how they differentiate from Featured Picture Sets. --Slaunger (talk) 20:20, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

So take it easy with the QI seal.

Sorry, I cannot take it easy with the QI seal, for it takes me about 1—1½ hours to prepare a QI image (expo correction of raw file, CAs, noise reduction, color processing, sharpness, retouching and so on). This is why I am too serious about QIs.--PereslavlFoto (talk) 15:01, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Thinking about it more thoroughly, I probably did not mean that as literally as written. I too use a substantial amount of time to prepare a single QI (and enjoy being pedantic about it), so I follow your line of thought of wanting to do your best prior to nomination. I think that preparating process is more important than the actual review. So I do not want you to take loosely on that, but perhaps not consider the resulting outcome of a review too seriously, because the process is lightweight and sometimes a little arbitrary. As King of Hearts has pointed out on the QIC talk page, this all tends to even out when averaging over many images. --Slaunger (talk) 19:23, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi Slaunger,

thank you for your message and appreciation, it's very kind of you who had so many nice images on commons! You're right about the archive, I needed to do it a long time ago, it's done now :) You're also right about this bridge, I was wondering myself if I should nominate it to FP but unfortunately, as you mention it, the red bricks are too blurred I'm afraid. I tried to sharpen it but didn't upload this modified file because I'm not happy with it yet. Maybe I should reduce the size of the image to make it acceptable. If you know how it could be better or if you want to nominate, feel free to do it! I'd be glad anyway :)

--Selbymay (talk) 08:34, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Well, I like your choice :)
I just upload a new version, a little wider. If you still appreciate, I'd glad if you nominate it to FP. Thanks!

Well ✓ Done for this FP promotion! Thanks a lot! I'm thankful to you for having seen the potential of this forgotten (by me) image. Cheers! --Selbymay (talk) 12:22, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Remerciements

  • Thank you. I was very impressed by your efficiency for unblocking VI.
    • Well, it is just a matter of approaching the bot maintainer. I did not unblock it, but glad to see it works again now.
  • Uh ... Wholes morning I am blocked at the toll booth, "Toulouse-Nord". Can you do something? --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 08:29, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Yes, help needed !

Hi, Slaunger ! -- Thanks for your offer. Here are the facts : I tried, yesterday evening, to close the promotion of Archeodontosaurus' set : "San Martino (Venice) Exterior", but I didn't succeed. It was my first try and it's obvious I forgot one stage of the process, more precisely the stage concerning "parent categories". When I realize I was wrong it was too late (lots of red links). I tried to correct my mistake yesterday evening and this morning and some links became blue. But I was for sure absent-minded and mixed category names. I tried to correct these names but, at my first attempt, I asked for the deletion of a category and the consequence was a deletion of the set on the promotion page... Everything is of my own falt : I intended to help and now I need help, which is not the best way to contribute. So, if you have time to have a look at the VICS page and to correct my mistakes, it would be very nice, not only for me, but for Archeo and his set. Thanks in advance. Best regards. Hi JLCP, tired for today and other plans for tomorrow, but maybe Sunday? --Slaunger (talk) 23:17, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
Fixed And no worries. You did not do anything beoynd repair. The things you have to do are terribly complicated and could really use the assistence of a bot. --Slaunger (talk) 11:27, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for your good work. Best regards. --JLPC (talk) 16:26, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Viborg Cathedral June 2012

Hi Slaunger,

I just uploaded a new version of your beautiful picture of the cathedral of Viborg. The left bottom of the cathedral needed to be aligned with other verticals and I also corrected the two crosses, distorted with the perspective correction. Hope you'll agree, if you don't, feel free to revert. Regards,

--Selbymay (talk) 14:42, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Selbymay, What a nice surprise . I like your edit, especially on the crosses. They look much better now. I had been staring at this image for too long, and I could not improve it more myself. Nice with extra eyes and editing skills. Thanks again, --Slaunger (talk) 21:45, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Message from the MOC Chief

lol
Very funny! But...Only in public, please. Between us, "Monseigneur", or, better, "Votre Altesse" is really sufficient. Clin
Seriously:
The message is very good, even if I'd prefer a "we" more than a "I". It is something collective, Do you agree ?
I'll make (tomorrow) a french translation, and send it to the relevant french speaking users.
Have a nice last 2012 night !--Jebulon (talk) 00:07, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
