Title |
All these I saw regularly at work during working hours. Tiny girl on left end is Goldie, who helps her sister (the girl with hands on her shoulders). She is 5 years old. When I tried to get a photo of her at work at the machine, the overseer said, "Don't put her in. A photo of that might get me in a lot of trouble." I said, "But she is only helping." "All the same," he replied, "if they caught her in here, they might fine me a hundred dollars." Chattanooga, Tenn. |
