English: Basil I, called the Macedonian, (c. 811 – August 29, 886) was an Eastern Roman emperor. He was perceived by East Romans as one of their greatest emperors, the founder of one the most splendid imperial dynasties of Eastern Rome, the Macedonian dynasty.
