English: Charlestown (once named Newtown-Dillon) is a Town in County Mayo, Ireland. It is located at the intersection of two National Primary routes, the N17 and the N5. Until recently, traffic congestion in the town was a problem, before the N5 bypass opened in November 2007. The busy N17 still passes through the town. Charlestown was the home to Margaret Sweeney, mother of Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis, until her death in 2000. Both Liam and Noel speak today about their childhood memories of visiting Charlestown.
