English: The Chocolate Mountains — a desert mountain range running northwest-to-southeast in the Lower Colorado River Valley of eastern Riverside and northern Imperial Counties, in eastern Southern California.
  • The mountain range is located in the Colorado Desert (a sub-ecoregion within the Sonoran Desert ecoregion) running more than 60 miles (100 km) from the east above the Salton Basin, along the northern Imperial Valley, to the west bank of the Colorado River.
  1. Little Picacho Wilderness — the wilderness area features Little Picacho Peak, and is accessed from the Winterhaven (California) and Yuma (Arizona) area.
  2. Picacho Peak Wilderness — the wilderness area features (big) Picacho Peak, and is 'inland' northwest of Little Picacho Wilderness.
  3. Indian Pass Wilderness — the wilderness area features the west bank of the Colorado River, and is north of Picacho Peak Wilderness.
