English: The church was a simple nave church erected in 1805 by bishop Daniel Delany who resided in Tullow and dedicated the church to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Two side aisles were added in 1941, the sanctuary reordered in 1970, and a major renovation executed in 1987 to 1990 under the direction of the architect Patrick Campbell.
