Icelandic codex preserving many Old Norse poems; had 53 vellum leaves (of which 8 are lost), written in the 1270s; in 1643 Brynjólfur Sveinsson, Bishop of Skálholt, found it, and in 1662 gave it to King Frederick III of Denmark, hence the name
