English: Geneva is the second most populous city in Switzerland (after Zürich), and is the most populous city of Romandy (the French-speaking part of Switzerland). It is situated where Lake Geneva (French Lac Léman) flows into the Rhône River, and is the capital of the Republic and Canton of Geneva. The population within the city limits is 203,000 (2022) and that of the metropolitan area — which extends into France and Vaud — is about 750,000. Geneva is widely regarded as a global city, mainly due to the presence of numerous international organizations, including the European headquarters of the United Nations.
