The Kasag Festival [1] is an annual celebration of religious and cultural gatherings in Banate, Iloilo held in December, or seasonally at the Banate Fiesta in the form of a street dance competition, selection of the Miss Kasag Festival pageant, and other programs, as a promotion of local tourism, to thank the Sto. Niño and in appreciation of the abundant harvest of blue crabs, locally known as Kasag (Kaufmann Visayan-English Dictionary, pp.220).[2] A similar Kasag Festival has launched in Castilla, Sorsogon in June 2019.
