English: The Portal of the Folded Wings Shrine to Aviation — located at the Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in Burbank, the eastern San Fernando Valley, Southern California.
• The shrine, a tower of marble, mosaics, and sculpted figures, is the burial site for fifteen pioneers of aviation. It was built in 1924 by the Pierce Brothers as an entrance tower for the cemetery.
• Aviation enthusiast James Gillette noted the tower's close proximity to the airport and Lockheed Aircraft Company plant, and conceived a plan to use the structure as a shrine to aviation. It was dedicated in 1953 by aviation enthusiasts as a final resting place for pilots, plane mechanics, and other pioneers of flight.
