Roswell Newcomb Pinckney (1896-1981) was an American civil servant who worked for the State Department from 1917 to 1960. His father, Henry Pinckney, was White House Steward from 1901 to 1910, he was a childhood friend of the children of Theodore Roosevelt. He and attended Howard University 1923; was a messenger in the War Departinent 1917-1920, and in the Veterans' Bureau 1922–1923. He transferred to the Department of State and was appointed an assistant messenger, September 5, 1923. At the time of his retirement he was a supervisor in the State Department's communications section.[1][2]
