English: Single track railway viaduct on the Edinburgh to Aberdeen railway line over the River South Esk at Montrose. The viaduct is of wrought iron construction. It was originally built by Sir Thomas Bouch at the same time as the :c:Category:Ferryden Viaduct immediately to the south. However, being of wrought iron construction similar to that of the original Tay Bridge (also by Bouch), it was tested in the wake of the Tay Bridge collapse and found to be structurally unsafe. The viaduct was dismantled and rebuilt by Sir William Arrol to a design by W R Galbraith, opening in 1881.
