The proposal is based on the discussion at en:Talk:Novo Mesto. The names of categories are generally in English, and per this discussion, the convention in English is to capitalise both words: "English conventionally capitalizes content words in toponyms (mesto 'town' is a content word)." --Eleassar ^(t/p) 07:44, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Yes, but Commons:Language policy states: "Category names should generally be in English", and per Commons:Naming categories: "Proper names of individual people, places, buildings, organizations etc. and other specific names of local phenomena, should in general use the name most frequently used in English-language literature." --Eleassar ^(t/p) 08:04, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

As I can see in en:Talk:Novo Mesto, English texts use both forms, the original one as well as the half-anglicized one. I think, Commons as an international project should choose (in such cases) rather the original and official form than the modified. We should also distinguish when the chosen form is a symptom of ignorance or lack of professionalism and accuracy – and when it results from considered adaptation of foreing names. --ŠJů (talk) 17:27, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

I fully support using original names, but only when this will be supported by the policy or multiple names of categories will be possible. Currently, we are to use English names of categories, and if the names of categories are in English, let's then write them in stylistically correct English. The discussion has demonstrated that the sources known after good English (e.g. Britannica, the BBC, the Guardian, the Financial Times, the Washington Post and the New York Times) use "Mesto", and this comment also confirms this as the preferred form in English. --Eleassar ^(t/p) 20:04, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
