Ethnic cleansing as a category[edit]

Sources stating that the Holocaust, the largest persecution of Jews, was ethical cleansing is both on en:Ethnic cleansing and history.com - the earlier Pogroms in Eastern Europe were also. The aim of these was to kill Jewish people rather than to suppress the religion or convert to another faith. Judaism is a religion but Jewish people are also an ethnic group - most notably there are many studies on Ashkenazi Jewish genetics which have risks factors to certain diseases plus common Near East ancestry eg PMC3543766, in addition there are stereotypes of Jewish people based on physical appearances indicating ethnic traits (hair color, skin color, size of nose, etc). For these reasons, in combination with the murder of over 6 million Jews by the Nazis was based on ethnicity (1/4 Jewish) rather than religious practices, which was preceded by murder and violence in the Category:Pogroms, are the reasons I believe this page belongs in Ethnic Cleansing. User:Robert Weemeyer I would like to revert your revert of my edit to restore the category. Amousey (talk) 16:26, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The Holocaust was ethnic cleansing, but we are talking about the category "persecution of Jews" here, and the persecution of Jews consisted (and consists) not only of ethnic cleansing. -- Robert Weemeyer (talk) 20:54, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
