Censored covers[edit]

Perhaps the last paragraph of this NPM webpage will help you understand the topic better. Ww2censor (talk) 10:00, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

If you created this template, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.
Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

This media may be deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Asia.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the OTRS system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

File:David Suisman - Pop Conference 2015 - 01 (17182931561).jpg[edit]

May I ask why you removed File:David Suisman - Pop Conference 2015 - 01 (17182931561).jpg from Category:Photographs taken on 2015-04-17? I figure it is better that I ask you than simply revert. Category seems accurate, and not implied by any other category it is in. - Jmabel ! talk 21:45, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

I did this in error. The category is now back in. Thanks for calling my attention to this. -- Robert Weemeyer (talk) 07:01, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

File:Pont dufour fribourg.png‎[edit]

I noticed you changed File:Pont dufour fribourg.png‎ back to PD-old-90. I think you misunderstood my point. Since the work is an EU work, presumably we have to assume the author has been dead for at least 70 years if we want to keep it. It's just not clear why PD-old-90 was chosen for this file when the death date of the author is not known. It can't stay PD-old-90 since as the result of a DR the PD-old-90 template is in the process of being deleted because no country has a copyright term of life + 90. —RP88 (talk) 06:10, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

The illustration was made before 1834. Even if we don't know the author it is totally reasonable to believe the author was dead before 1925, so PD-old-90 wasn't wrong. I think we can even assume that he died before 1915, which would make this PD-old-100. -- Robert Weemeyer (talk) 06:14, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
PD-old-100-1923 sounds fine to me. I've updated the license. —RP88 (talk) 06:15, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Antonia Graschberger[edit]

Do I misunderstand something? You added Category:Undelete in 2021 here.

As I understand it, Antonia Graschberger, the designer, is still alive, so these stamps will be under copyright until at least 2087 and then only if she dies this year. Since she is only 57, these will probably be under copyright well into the 22nd century. .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 11:42, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

I do not think that the work of the designer of File:Heinrich Zille stamp.jpg, File:DPAG 2007 2592 Paul Gerhardt.jpg and File:DBP 1991 1555-R.JPG is "sufficiently creative so that it has a copyright". For instance, the first stamp shows a PD painting by Heinrich Zille. Beneath, the designer added the name of the painter (Heinrich Zille), his birth and death years (1858–1929), the country name (Deutschland), the value (55 cents) and the edition year (2008). The arrangement of image and text is as simple as can be. I don't see anything copyrightable in this. -- Robert Weemeyer (talk) 12:10, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

No permission tag[edit]

Hi, Please do not tag such image (File:Àfghan child (8129548941).jpg) with "no permission". There is no license issue at the source, so no permission is needed. For license laundering like this, please open a regular DR for all images at once, it is much easier to have a global view of the issue, i.e. Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Files from seair21 Flickr stream (to check). Thanks, Yann (talk) 11:09, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

File:Basel 2012-10-14 Batch part 2 (3).JPG[edit]

Stop removing important informations from the names of the files, please... You can always add a specification to make it clearer -- but removing a date and a name of the city is not the best idea... Wieralee (talk) 12:41, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your feedback. In future cases I will try to act in line with this. -- Robert Weemeyer (talk) 15:44, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

File:Postcard Erster Flug Hamburg-London 1948.jpg[edit]

Hello Robert. You added Category:Airmail covers for this image. However, this is not a cover at all but a postcard. Sorry, I am reverting your change. Or do you plan to create Category:Airmail postcards for such images? Thank you. --Michael Romanov (talk) 20:07, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

According to en:Philatelic cover, a postcard is one kind of a cover. Although this seems strange to me as a German language native, I think I have to accept this usage of the word. -- Robert Weemeyer (talk) 20:10, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
Hm, that's strange to me, too, as a Russian native speaker. :) Never mind. Thank you for directing me to this terminology oddity. Best, --Michael Romanov (talk) 20:46, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
We should not bluntly accept the info there, but reflect about whether it is correct or not. These pages are much better: w:Postcard and w:Cover (philately). The definition on the page w:Philatelic cover (the first sentence) mentions no reference/source and is imho just plain wrong. A postcard made for philately is a philatelic postcard. The difference between cover and postcard is in the appearance, its form. The information and material affixed on it, like stamps, do not change that. I commented on the page. Arno-nl (talk) 19:35, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for commenting, Arno. --Michael Romanov (talk) 20:56, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

Category:Original stamps of the Soviet Union[edit]

Hi :-)
You have moved this category, but you haven't moved the files... This category depends on templates, so it can't be made by bot => it must be done manually. Fix it, please. Thanks in advance, Wieralee (talk) 10:42, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
