English: The Lutheran congregation obviously prefers the spelling St. Christophorus Kirche without hyphens, as one can read on their website (https://kircheoese.wir-e.de/), else the names of saints and the term for church, kirche, are often written as one word, sometimes skipping the unconnected prefix St., especially in colloquial language. Therefore among Lutherans the unconnected prefix St. is usually not hyphenated. Maybe one should ask the owner, which name they want. Ulf Heinsohn (talk) 20:46, 6 February 2018 (UTC)--[reply]

@Hydro and Ulf Heinsohn: Please add your sources supporting your claim that "St. Christophoruskirche" is a misspelling. If there exist more correct formats, it's not justifiable to move the category from one such name to another one. If you want to unify the format of a set of category names, bring please your analysis which forms prevails and which one and why should be preferred.

The other reason why several rename requests got stuck in the queue is the Commons language policy. Why we should not prefer standard English names Category:Church of Saint Christopher in Oese or Category:Church of Saint Christopher (Oese), or the same with comma. Most of countries use English names standardly, only several countries prefer names in local languages for categories of churches. Is there any reason for such an exception? Is there any unbiased criterion which can be used for a decision, which countries need to translate their church titles and which should keep them in the local language? Sometime, such a translation can bring inaccuracies and misrepresentation, eg. some countries use a phrase "Virgin Mary" or "Saint Mary" or "Mother of God" (in local language) instead of English "Our Lady" or French "Notre Dame" etc. I think, a big CfD discussion should become open about church name policy at Commons to achieve some principles. --ŠJů (talk) 03:45, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The spelling with hyphens is a requirement of German orthography, called Durchkopplung. This is the only permissible spelling in german language Wikipedia, see e.g. Kategorie:Christophoruskirche.
