Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: The bot replaces urls that have to be changed. This can be only a domain change or a more complex page structure change on a website. Links are dectected with the help of the api (and not with regex) and are only replaced if the webserver of the new url returns a 200-status-response for that new resource. Links in “normal article text” are not changed.

How should i fix urls on file namespace which are mentioned in the source field of the Information/Paintung template? e.g. at File:APEC2005_Hanbok.jpg the content of is now available at Merlissimo (talk) 00:49, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Seems like a nice, and neat bot. Would you mind running the bot, with the script a bit more? Evaluating the bot behaviour from just one contribution is a bit hard. Kanonkas // talk // e-mail // 12:36, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
You can have a look at enwiki because i have no non-file-ns replacements at the moment for commons. But many source links like the example above have changed. On dewiki we decided to replace the source locations with "http://newlink.tld (was: <nowiki>http://originallink.tld</nowiki>)". I could also simple replace them or change only the link target and leave the old url as linktext. (e.g. []. I did not found any informations on this wiki how this should be handled.
