Big red tulips with small hoverfly
  • The little fellow just showed up in two of the photos and I kind of liked having it there. I have seven almost identical photos without it and at first I was leaning towards using one of those. Let's see what others say, maybe I'll try one without it as an alt. -- Cart (talk) 22:12, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Weak oppose I love the fly, but as noted he's not in focus. And while it was good that you avoided posterization on the flower, it's still sort of awkwardly fitting in the image at best. Daniel Case (talk) 21:23, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Daniel, I think you used the wrong 'vote' sign. ;) I agree that the crop is a bit unusual. I was going for what Colin did in an earlier nom with a rose to try out something else than the normal full-front/whatever photo of a flower. An accepted style in most places, not so much on FPC it seems. Ah well, I'll survive. :) -- Cart (talk) 21:36, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@W.carter: Indeed I did ... perhaps it shows how ambivalent I was. Maybe that crop works better with a less strong color. Daniel Case (talk) 21:39, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps. The idea was not to just photograph a flower, but to immerse one's view in fabulous red petals. Back to the old (experimental) drawing board. -- Cart (talk) 21:46, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
